Hand Made Photo Frame

Yesterday was Mother's Day. Since it was a special occasion, I had to figure out some craft ideas for the nursery kids at Sunday School. After some thought, I decided to go with a picture frame idea that was done at King's Kids some years back.

We bought the materials from the Art Shop at Bras Basah. We needed ice-cream sticks, strong multi-purpose glue, pieces of colorful thin sponge and stencils. The tedious bit of the preparation work was to trace the heart shapes on the sponge and cut them out individually. It was a challenge cutting them in a nice shape. It would have been a breeze if I had those heart-shape paper puncher, but that is rather costly.

The craft was a little overwhelming for some of the kids, but they had fun counting the number of sticks, putting together the sticks and choosing their desired 'heart' for the decor. We held their hands to write simple love notes on a piece of paper and inserted that into the frame. It turned out to be a relatively easy craft work, apart from the fact that we needed more adhesive glue as the one we got took some time to dry.
